Q5 When did you start using Twitter and how were you introduced to it?
Though having heard about Twitter a year ago, I am actually tweeting
for just a month. One of my best friends @maxss is dedicated podcaster
and twitter - and he encouraged me to enter Twitter.
Q6 What are the main reasons you use Twitter (e.g. business,
marketing, fun, community etc)?
The first and the main reason is up-to-date information brought by
prominent specialists/professionals/
marketing follow.
Q7 What aspects of Twitter do you love?…
Community, speed and quality.
Q8 …and dislike (if any)?
Too much information noise )) but it's just human, only human ))
Q9 If you could make changes to Twitter what would they be?
I awfully miss replies trace function and common friends feature.
Q10 What Twitter apps do you use to Tweet from? (e.g. main Twitter
site/ Twitterriffic / Tweetdeck etc)
I tested Twhirl, Twibble, Digsby, and FireFox extensions TwitKit and
TwitBin, but nothing compares in usability to Firefox' TwitterFox +
Greasemonkey scripts for Twitter web page.
Q11 What are your criteria for following someone?
I follow someone due to their experience and professionality in
certain spheres that are interesting for me. Then follow the fun
factor and news factor - which means that this user can bring me some
new information (discussions, links, new people).
Q12 What type of behaviour would make you unfollow someone?
Nothing new in their tweets or something that I can clearly mark as
narrowmindness.
Q13 What tips do you have for newbies?
Don't shy, express yourself and do your best to make Twitter
interesting for you and others.
And when talking about real actions I think the best strategy for
newbies is to find some key persons here and folow them - just to
follow the time pulse )) but they are too far and possibly you'll
never get a word from them. So here comes the next advice - to find
some people who share your opinion, your experience, your interests or
at least your sense of humor - follow them and dive into chats and/or
discussions. The more you tweet - the more will follow you - the more
new friends you'll get. And isn't it the thing that I came here for?
Q14 How do you find new people to follow (e.g. Twellow,Summize,
friends of friends etc)?
I usually follow new friends from my Twitter friends when I see that
someone can be of interest for me - or follow those who suddenly
decided to follow me. But it is not obligatory - as I first check
their tweets and consider are they worth to follow.
Q15 Qwitter - do you use it? If someone unfollows you do you reciprocate?
Yes, I use Qwitter but merely for statistics - and take no further
actions against traitors will they all be cursed forever!!! ))) I
actually lost only one Twitter friend - he came from abroad and
followed me for unclear reasons for me. So I don't miss him - but I'd
do miss someone whom I really appreciate.
Q16 If you agree that Twitter should be monetized do you have any
suggestions how?
Twitter is great because of the freedom. So I think the best way to
monetize it is to give the same freedom to all twittdom - I mean a
mere call for donations of free amount, similar to that of Wikipedia
or else.
Q17 Who do you enjoy following the most?
Among English-speaking twitterers I appreciate mostly @timoreilly,
@scobleizer, @zaibatsu. And the most interesting Russian twitterers
for me are (abc-ing) @absolvo, @alexblogger, @altblog,
@andreikharlanov, @antonpopov, @kenobius, @marapper, @Maxibiz, @mio,
@va1en0k. Too much A-type but it's just a coincidence )) I got also
some new followers during last 4 days - so this list can change for
more.
Q18 How do you see the future of Twitter?
It depends entirely on Twitter administration & community wishes and
global economy & technology trends. In the nearest future I see
Twiter's slight monetization, audience of milions worldwide, great
popularity, pressure of the counter-terrorist bodies to help them in
search of terrorists. Then maybe stagnation, new services to power up
the interest to Twitter, hard monetization, rise of a rival,
popularity fading, oblivion. But I don't want this future )) I think
Twitter will grow in size and authority and finally it will integrate
in some new unforeseen service where people could exchange their stati
with not words or pictures but manyfold presentations of users'
emotions, ideas, citations or author's texts, combined in one
complicated item based on... I think I'll continue this idea in
another place )) Twitter is a kind of life so it won't die I hope.
